ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

The Sub-Saharan Africa Network (SUSAN) of the International Biometrics Society is a network of national biometric groups of Sub-Saharan Africa countries that promotes the advancement of life sciences through the development, application, and dissemination of effective mathematical and statistical methods. This includes applications in agriculture, medical and health research, infectious diseases, environment and ecology, climate, and other applied sciences such as statistical genetics and bioinformatics. IBS SUSAN 2021 will be the 17th biannual conference that started in Kenya in 1990. Recently, conference has been held in Kampala, Uganda (2015), Lilongwe, Malawi (2017) and Cape Town, South Africa (2019).
The theme of this year’s conference is “Biometrics in the era of Big Data for Health and Food Security.”

Due to the uncertainty on global and regional travel precautions in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 17th Sub-Saharan African Network (SUSAN) Conference of the International Biometric Society will be hosted virtually on 5 – 9 September 2021.
The conference will be hosted by the Kenya Region of the International Biometric Society.
